AUD/USD fell to an 11-week low of 0.6899 after Australian May CPI showed headline inflation easing to 4.0% year-on-year, below consensus, while the RBA's trimmed mean rose to 3.6%. The Aussie has dropped more than 5% from its early-May high of 0.7277 as the US dollar strengthened.
Persistent underlying inflation keeps the RBA on a tightening path, which supports the AUD, but the broader US dollar strength is the dominant pressure. A weaker AUD marginally improves Australian export competitiveness for feed commodities.
