Evonik has completed the backward integration of its DL-methionine production facility in Mobile, Alabama, adding on-site methyl mercaptan production. The company says the integrated network across the US, Belgium and Singapore improves efficiency and supply security and reduces logistics risks.
Integrated Americas supply improves methionine reliability and reduces exposure to intermediate disruptions, which may modestly ease supply tightness in the region. The effect on prices is limited because it changes production economics rather than adding a large volume of new supply.
