The Baltic Exchange Week 28 dry bulk report says capesize rates firmed through the week, with C5 ending in the low $13,000s and C3 fixing in the mid-$31,000s to $33,000s on robust South Brazil and West Africa to China demand. Panamax rates improved only slightly in a consolidating market.
Stronger capesize and panamax earnings raise the cost of moving bulk commodities, which can narrow the export-to-import price spread for feed ingredients. The effect on feed prices is modest.
