European traders are worried about soybean meal availability for the rest of the year as Platts assessed meal FOB Netherlands and EXW Tarragona at Eur365 per ton on July 29, up 4.7% and 5.4% month on month. The rise follows a sharp fall in the Brazil crush spread, which Platts put at $13.50 per ton on July 27, the lowest since mid-October 2025.
Participants said it is too early to predict how conditions will unfold.
Weaker Brazilian crush margins could reduce meal output from a major supplier to Europe, tightening supply and supporting European meal prices. Buyers should expect firmer meal values if processing slows.
