CME Group said it plans to launch physically delivered sorghum basis futures, with trading expected to start August 24, 2026, pending regulatory review. The contract tracks the spread between sorghum and corn, with delivery via Kansas elevators using the Kansas City HRW delivery network.
The contract gives feed, export and ethanol users a tool to hedge the sorghum-corn spread, which can reduce basis risk but does not change underlying supply or demand.
