South Korea plans to import about 210 million table eggs from the US and Thailand during July and August to stabilize supply before the September Chuseok holiday. The government is providing about $67 million for transport, repackaging and other import costs.
Korea imported 16.5 million eggs in the first half of 2026, including about 775 metric tons from the US.
The import program opens a sales opportunity for approved US and Thai egg suppliers and supports export demand while Korean output stays below the 50 million eggs per day needed. Eligibility depends on disease-free status and Korean food-safety approval.
