South Korea's daily egg output has fallen to about 46-47 million eggs after an HPAI outbreak from November 2025 led to culling of roughly 11.3 million laying hens. The agriculture ministry says at least 50 million eggs per day is needed for a stable balance.
Output is expected to recover gradually from August as spring-placed chicks reach laying age.
The supply shortfall keeps Korean egg prices elevated and supports import demand, though recovery from August should ease that pressure. Egg and poultry feed demand effects are limited.
