USDA's August WASDE lowered the 2026/27 US corn yield to 180.7 bu/ac and raised harvested area, leaving new-crop corn stocks at 1.653 billion bushels, down 8% from July. Soybean production rose to 4.52 billion bushels on higher acreage despite a lower yield, and soybean ending stocks rose to 320 million bushels.
The report also raised sugar beet and cane figures.
Lower corn stocks support corn prices, while a larger soybean supply and higher crush outlook weigh on soybeans. Sugar and other tighter balances offer additional upside.
