Tamil Nadu's food minister said that arrivals of super fine paddy from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would stabilise local rice prices. Around 170-190 trucks a day were unloading paddy at Red Hills, Chennai, and more supply from Karnataka is expected from December.
Rising paddy arrivals and millers' purchases ease local tightness in southern India, which may cap domestic rice prices but has little direct effect on export benchmarks.
