Leftfield Commodity Research says StatsCan pegs the 2026 Canadian barley crop at 9.71 million tonnes, flat year on year, but the estimate predates a difficult September harvest. Canadian barley carryover is the lowest in three years at 940,400 tonnes, and USDA cut the US barley crop to 116 million bushels from 140 million.
Tighter North American barley supplies and reduced export availability should lift feed and malt barley prices and may pull in more malt imports.
