A Canadian newsletter reports that Beijing has not said whether suspended tariffs on Canadian canola meal, peas, lobster and crab will return in January 2027. The suspensions run March 1 through December 31, 2026.
A decision may come at the APEC leaders' meeting in Shenzhen on November 18-19.
The unresolved tariff status creates uncertainty for Canadian canola meal exports to China and for pricing ahead of 2027 marketing. A return of tariffs would likely reduce export demand.
