The Globe and Mail reports that Canadian farm and seafood producers are waiting for China to decide whether to extend temporary tariff suspensions past year-end 2026. The suspensions cover canola meal, peas, lobster and crab.
The decision is expected around the APEC summit in Shenzhen on November 18-19.
If the suspended 100% tariffs on canola meal return in January 2027, Canadian meal exports to China would face renewed barriers, which could weigh on canola meal prices and shift meal flows.
