MSC is adding piracy and Suez Canal surcharges of $91 per TEU on Asia to eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea shipments from September 15. It is also charging $100 per TEU on selected Europe to North America cargo routed through Panama from October 1.
Added container surcharges raise the cost of moving goods on these lanes, marginally shifting trade flows but having limited direct effect on bulk feed grain prices.
