The U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans issued a low water safety advisory for the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker 0 to 303 ahead of Passes. The advisory applies when the Baton Rouge and Carrollton gauges read at or below set levels, and it warns that depths outside the sailing line have been significantly reduced.
Safety restrictions and reduced depths can slow or limit tows on the Lower Mississippi, raising barge freight and constraining Gulf export loadings of grain and meal.
