Highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected on an exhibition farm in Newfoundland, Canada, in December 2021, the first HPAI detection in the Americas since 2015. Global case counts continued to rise, with England reporting its largest outbreak.
Brucellosis in Montana livestock and a rise in bat-mediated rabies cases were also reported.
