USDA is making about $12 million available to states, tribes and localities to control chronic wasting disease in deer and elk. It is also allocating $16 million in Farm Bill funds to protect livestock health against avian flu, ASF and foot-and-mouth disease.
The spending is aimed at disease containment and does not materially change livestock supply or feed demand. Any price effect would only follow a future outbreak.
