US pork industry organizations are coordinating their response to the H5N1 outbreak in dairy cattle, which began in Texas in March 2024. As of July 7, H5N1 had been confirmed in dairy herds in 12 states, and no cases have been found in pigs.
The response is preparedness planning and does not itself change supply or demand. No detection in swine means no direct effect on hog supply at present.
