DEFRA reported the first UK detection of H5N1 in a sheep, found on a Yorkshire farm where captive birds had an outbreak. The infected ewe and the birds were culled, and other sheep on the farm tested negative.
The detection is contained to one farm and officials see no increased risk to the wider livestock population. Its effect on feed or livestock prices is negligible.
