Indonesia's Trade Minister issued Regulation No. 922/2023 on 13 April 2023, raising the crude palm oil export duty from 33 to 52 USD per tonne. The same regulation raised the plantation fund tariff from 90 to 100 USD per tonne, after the CPO reference value was set at 932.69 USD per tonne.
Higher export levies raise the cost of Indonesian palm oil sold abroad, which can support offshore palm prices and shift export flows. The change is modest relative to the reference price, so the effect on feed-related products is limited.
After 548 past bullish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -0.7% to +2.1%), and +0.9% over 20.
