Malaysian palm oil futures closed higher after Indonesia reaffirmed plans to raise its palm oil export tax. Malaysian export data for early March showed declines of 7.5% to 10.1%, which limited gains.
Expected Indonesian export levy increases support palm prices, while weaker Malaysian exports partly offset that support.
After 548 past bullish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -0.7% to +2.1%), and +0.9% over 20.
