PublicInvest Research said Malaysia is considering waiving its 10% CPO export tax to boost shipments after palm oil inventories hit a record 3.5 million tonnes. Indonesian CPO was trading at a RM700 to RM900 per tonne discount to Malaysian supply despite Indonesia's combined export tax and levy.
India had cut its CPO import tax to 5% from 10%.
A waiver would lower Malaysian export costs and help clear record stocks, which may ease domestic pressure but could also add to export supply and weigh on prices.
After 400 past bearish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and +0.2% over 20.
