CBOT soybean crush margins fell below $3/bu on 30 June, down 31% from a record $4.18/bu in early June. Soybean oil dropped 16% from its 1 June peak as crude oil prices fell, and soybean futures slipped 3.2%.
Rising tallow and used cooking oil imports also weighed on domestic feedstock demand.
Lower crude and softer soybean oil prices narrow crush margins, which reduces the incentive to crush and weakens soybean and meal prices.
