AgRural reported Brazil's safrinha corn at 53% planted as of late February, versus 24% a year earlier and up 11 points on the week. Northern areas have wet, adequate soil moisture, while southern areas are dry and short on moisture.
The first-crop harvest was 29% complete.
Faster planting in the north supports the expected safrinha harvest, which eases concern about domestic corn supply. Dry southern conditions remain a downside risk to yields.
