CBH announced a new oat processing facility at Forrestfield, WA, able to process up to 60,000 tonnes a year. It builds on CBH's purchase of Blue Lake Milling and aims to serve growing Asian demand for oat products using local oats.
The plant will compete for supply with UniGrain and a new Quaker Oats mill in the same area.
Added milling capacity raises competition for milling-grade oats in WA, supporting local oat prices. The shift from stockfeed toward milling demand reduces the boom-bust pattern in feed oat markets.
After 40 past bullish trade events, Oats moved a median -0.6% over 5 sessions (40% higher; middle half -2.8% to +1.7%), and -3.2% over 20.
