Cattle trade was quiet on Tuesday, with bids and asking prices not fully set and early steer and heifer prices around $130 in parts of Texas. Feeder steers averaging 723 pounds brought $147.37 per hundredweight, and national barrow and gilt carcass prices were slightly higher.
Pork cutout rose $1.01 on stronger demand for ribs, loins and picnics.
Thin trade and unsettled bids mean little direction in cash prices until later in the week. Firmer pork cutout values support hog prices and modestly lift the overall meat complex.
