Nutrien raised its 2021 potash production by 500,000 tonnes after the EU imposed trade sanctions on Belarus. The company now projects record potash sales of 13.3 to 13.8 million tonnes.
Mosaic had earlier cut output at its Saskatchewan mine because of flood risks.
Added supply from Nutrien partly offsets lost output from rivals and Belarus, so it could cap further potash price gains. Price direction still depends on sustained strong demand.
