The DOE/EIA weekly retail diesel benchmark rose 24.2 cents to $5.643/gal, its 12th consecutive weekly increase. The price is the highest since July 2022 and about 17 cents below the 2022 all-time high.
ULSD futures were also trading higher on Tuesday.
The benchmark drives most trucking fuel surcharges, so rising diesel raises feed delivery costs and the total landed cost of feed ingredients. Futures strength signals further near-term increases.
After 109 past bullish report events, ULSD / Diesel moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -3.3% to +3.9%), and +0.3% over 20.
