Saxo's weekly Commitment of Traders update for the week ending 7 April 2026 shows gross USD longs against major currencies jumped 53% to a 14-month high as traders sought safe havens. Net selling hit all eight currency contracts, led by CAD, JPY and EUR, and the euro position flipped to a small net short.
Crude oil long positions were elevated near a four-year high before a sharp price slump after the US-Iran ceasefire announcement.
A surge in dollar demand tends to pressure dollar-priced commodities, while the unwinding of crowded crude longs after the ceasefire signals that geopolitical premium has been removed from energy. Elevated fuel prices also support soybean oil demand for biofuel, which supports feed-chain margins.
