Bangladesh's food ministry said its planned rice import deal with Thailand could be suspended because Thai offers were too high, after a deal with India also failed on price. The state buyer's fifth tender drew an offer of $419.51 per tonne from Olam, and a sixth tender closes August 8.
Importers rejecting high offers and turning to other origins suggests firm Asian rice prices may ease if demand shifts or buying slows, though Bangladesh's ongoing tenders keep demand active.
