Indian 5% broken parboiled rice fell to $393-397 per ton last week, its lowest this year, on weak demand. Bangladesh is imposing a 28% duty on rice imports, and Vietnamese 5% broken prices climbed to their highest since January 2012 at $465-475.
Bangladesh's import duty threatens Indian export volumes, which is bearish for Indian rice. Vietnam's high prices reflect tight supply and firm demand, though this remains a minor feed input.
