Several currencies lost ground against the US dollar in early August 2018, with the euro down about 2.3 percent and the pound down over 2.5 percent since August 1. The Chinese yuan, Indian rupee and Indonesian rupiah also weakened, and the Brazilian real fell 2.9 percent.
The Russian ruble, Australian dollar, New Zealand dollar and South African rand also declined.
A broad dollar rally lowers the dollar cost of imports for some feed buyers while making US exports less competitive abroad. Weaker Brazilian and Russian currencies can also pressure export prices for soy and wheat.
