Analysis attributes the Brazilian real's weakness in 2024 to fiscal deficit concerns above 9% of GDP, rising inflation expectations and a central bank that paused rate cuts. The real is down about 7% in the last month, the worst among emerging-market currencies.
Persistent currency weakness raises the cost of imported feed inputs in Brazil and sustains the dollar value of Brazilian commodity exports, shaping feed and grain trade flows.
