The EIA reported that the national average retail diesel price rose 0.3 cents to $3.163 per gallon for the week ended May 20, 2019. Gasoline retail prices fell 1.4 cents.
Futures for WTI, gasoline and diesel had risen in the week of May 13-17, with WTI up $1.48 per barrel and diesel futures up 8.39 cents per gallon.
Higher wholesale diesel and crude futures in the prior week point to further retail diesel increases, which raises operating costs for feed transport and mills.
