A monitoring report by ESPO, EPOA and RSPO found that 2 million tonnes of certified sustainable palm oil were imported into Europe in 2015, with an additional 1.5 million Book and Claim certificates redeemed. Europe accounts for about 12% of global palm oil use.
Growing demand for certified palm oil in Europe supports a premium for sustainable supply but has little direct effect on global benchmark prices.
