The dollar rose after Fed Chair Janet Yellen told the Senate Banking Committee that waiting too long to remove accommodation would be unwise and that rate increases in 2017 are appropriate. GBP/USD fell to about 1.2457 and EUR/USD was near 1.0575.
A firmer dollar on hawkish Fed signals makes dollar-priced commodities cheaper for foreign buyers, a modest bearish pressure on US grain and oilseed export prices.
