A strike by lighter vessel workers has halted unloading at 16 ghats on the Karnaphuli river serving Chittagong, Bangladesh. About 70,000 tonnes of goods are stranded, including wheat from Argentina and Canada imported by BSM Group.
Delayed wheat unloading and rising demurrage costs can tighten local supply and slow Bangladeshi feed and flour supply chains. The effect on world wheat prices is small.
