Rusagrotrans reported about 25 million tonnes of Russian grain were exported from July 2016 to February 2017, a slower pace than last season despite a record January. Russian season export projections were cut again to 35.1 million tonnes, including 27 million of wheat, and Ukrainian sea ports shipped 729,300 tonnes in the week to February 24.
A slower Russian export pace and a trimmed Russian forecast tighten global wheat and corn supply for buyers, supporting prices, while steady Ukrainian flows partly offset the shortfall.
