USDA's Prospective Plantings report projected a record 89.5 million acres of U.S. soybeans for 2017, above most trade estimates. The March 1 soybean stocks of 1.735 billion bushels also topped expectations, and soybean futures fell while corn and wheat rose on reduced acreage forecasts.
A larger-than-expected soybean area and heavy stocks point to ample supply, pressuring soybean meal and soy complex prices, while lower corn and wheat acreage supports those grains.
