Qatar Petroleum CEO Saad al-Kaabi said Qatar is lifting its 2005 moratorium on developing the North Field, adding capacity of 2 bcf per day starting in five to seven years. Qatar expects to lose its position as top LNG exporter to Australia this year.
Expanded Qatari output adds to a looming LNG supply wave, which is bearish for future gas prices and therefore for gas-linked fertilizer and energy costs.
