The CME Group intends to introduce a variable storage rate for KC HRW wheat futures from March 18, 2018, subject to CFTC approval. The mechanism raises or lowers maximum storage charges depending on the March-May spread, and an observation period runs from December 2017 to February 2018.
The change affects delivery convergence and storage economics for HRW wheat but has no immediate effect on current supply or prices.
