Indonesia and Malaysia are launching joint efforts to counter a European Parliament resolution on palm oil. Indonesia exported 4.37 million tonnes of palm oil to the EU last year and Malaysia exported 2.06 million tonnes.
The EU is a major palm oil buyer, so a threatened phase-out of palm-based biofuels after 2020 would weigh on demand and prices if it is implemented.
