Rabobank reports that the absence of El Niño has increased Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil output this season, with anchovy quotas up 56% from 2016. Demand for marine ingredients is changing as producers adopt insect and algae alternatives.
About 500,000 tonnes of extra Peruvian fishmeal supply is expected, which should soften high marine ingredient prices. Growing substitution also limits future demand.
