The Guardian explains corporate zero-deforestation pledges. It cites Forest Trends data showing that as of March 2017, 447 companies had made 760 commitments covering palm oil, soy, timber, pulp and cattle supply chains.
Corporate pledges to exclude deforestation could tighten sourcing of palm oil, soy and cattle products over time. The effect on prices is gradual and mostly affects premium or certified supply.
