Oil World data show Argentina's 2017 soybean area at 18.5 million hectares, down from a prior forecast of 19.1 million, with a crop forecast of 54 million tonnes and yield about 2% below last year. Early-September soybean stocks hit a record 32 million tonnes, while poor farmer sales have kept crushing and exports low.
A smaller Argentine crop is supportive for soybeans, but record stocks and slow farmer selling limit the upside, and weaker crush and export expectations point to pressure on soybean meal and oil export prices.
