Oil traded below $57 a barrel after the International Energy Agency said OPEC-led production cuts may falter in 2018 as US shale and other rivals grow faster than demand. US output reached its highest level in more than three decades, according to EIA data.
A forecast of rising non-OPEC supply weighs on crude prices and reduces the likelihood of a sustained energy-price rally. Lower energy prices can dampen biofuel demand and feed input costs.
