Minnesota began requiring most diesel sold in the state to be a blend of 20% biodiesel starting May 1, 2018. The state is the first to mandate a B20 blend, following years of legislative effort.
The mandate is part of a long-running push that began in 1999.
A statewide B20 mandate adds sustained demand for soybean oil, which supports soy crush and bean values. The higher crush also increases soybean meal supply, which tends to weigh on meal prices.
