The National Pork Board described its Secure Pork Supply plan at World Pork Expo, a program to keep herds with no infection moving if foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever or African swine fever reaches the US. Producers can start by requesting a Premises Identification Number from their state animal health official.
The plan is preparedness for a possible future outbreak and changes no current supply or demand. It has little direct effect on hog or feed prices today.
