Engro Fertilizers raised its urea dealer transfer price by Rs740 per bag effective March 1, 2024, below market expectations. It kept the price of imported urea unchanged.
The increase follows a Rs1,350 hike by FFBL last month and comes as gas prices for SNGPL and SSGC network producers have risen sharply.
Higher domestic gas costs for fertilizer makers continue to push up Pakistani urea prices. Unchanged import pricing and the gas network split create price distortions that can benefit middlemen.
