CS Beef Packers' $100 million plant near Kuna, Idaho, has run since May 2017 and processes 1,350 head of cattle daily with 625 workers. The company plans to ramp up to 1,700 head per day and hire 650 to 700 people.
Added fed-cattle and cull-cow processing capacity in the Intermountain West can firm demand for cattle in the region, though the plan is still ramping and the effect on prices is modest.
