USDA announced on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 three programs worth up to $12 billion to aid farmers hit by retaliatory tariffs. Senator Heidi Heitkamp also said she is sponsoring a bill to make Trade Adjustment Assistance available to affected farmers.
The aid is intended to cushion tariff damage on US farm exports, but it does not fully replace lost sales, so pressure on US grain and oilseed prices persists.
